SCOUTSTROOP & PACK 704
Scouts
In January, our Cob Scout Pack spent all night at the Riverbanks Zoo, getting to see a special program on Nocturnal Animals, and some behind the scenes details that most zoo visitors never get to see. It also held its’ Pinewood Derby, with our new track.
The Second Sunday in February is when the United Methodist Church traditionally celebrates Scout Sunday. On February 12th, The Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts will be participating in our Church Service.
After the service, the Pack and Troop will also be holding a Pancake Lunch Fundraiser afterwards in the Fellowship Hall. All donations from the fundraiser will be used to help ensure that all boys can participate in Scouting events, regardless of their family’s financial condition.
Our Blue and Gold Banquet will be held on February 24th. The following boys from our pack will be receiving the highest award in Cub Scouting, the Arrow of Light. They will also be crossing over into Boy Scout Troop that night:
Andrew Craven Dawson Hagg Xavier Kniffley Riley Murdock Ethan Suchanoff Daniel Zambuto

Girl Scouts News!
Over the Holidays, several of the Girl Scouts visited some ort our church shut-ins and assisted Busy Bees filling the gift baskets. They also took time to sing some Christmas carols to these same members and the Daises caroled in one of the local neighborhoods.
Don’t forget it’s Girl Scout Cookie Time! Please support our church’s Troop 790. We have several girls that are members of the church that would love to see each of you some cookies.
Missions
Roberta United Methodist strives to be good stewards of the resources God has provided. Our yearly budget includes funds strictly earmarked for the needs of local and world missions. Locally we assist others by donations to individuals as well as organizations such as nursing facilities and night shelters. Bible classes in our public schools is another mission supported financially by RUMC. The importance of spreading God’s word is a primary reason for our monetary and spiritual support of missionaries in Thailand and Indonesia.
Bring A Friend To Church
Thanks to everyone who is taking seriously our year long goal of Bring A Friend To Church. Our average weekly attendance is increasing and the activity level of all our ministries has grown.
The other day one of our folks said to me, “Pastor, I knew my neighbor didn’t go to church-you just know those things. But it had never really dawned on me that I should invite them to our church, until you said what you did about how we are supposed to do that.”
Only 25%, that’s 1 in 4 households, are active church attenders. So while lots of folks claim to believe in God – very few are actually working on a commitment.
Keep the faith!
